Program Description: Brewster Recreation's Youth Leader (YL) Program is designed for students who are entering grades 8-9 who are interested in becoming better leaders. This program immerses teens in a work environment and covers a curriculum that includes topics such as leadership, conflict resolution, child development, and group dynamics that lead to the making of a better community leader. Participation in the program does not guarantee future employment with the Town of Brewster.
*There is a one time $20.00 cost to participate.
*This is a VOLUNTEER position.
*Youth Leaders MUST attend program training prior to joining our program.
*Leading up to the program, Brewster Rec staff will confirm the YL's attendance for training dates.
*Summer Rec Youth Leaders that are accepted into the program are expected to volunteer Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-12:00PM or 11:00AM-4:00PM each week.
*Summer Rec Program Runs from June 29, 2026-August 14, 2026.
MANDATORY Youth Leader Staff Training

Time: 9:00AM
Location: Brewster Bay Property
*In addition to the mandatory Youth Leader Staff Training, the Summer Rec Director will be reaching out to Youth Leaders to schedule small group sessions prior to the full staff meeting. We ask that each Youth Leader attend one of these sessions, as they provide an excellent opportunity to share important program information, answer questions, and evaluate each Youth Leader in a smaller group setting.
