Program Description: Mass Audubon and Brewster Recreation are partnering to offer an exciting opportunity to learn about and search for cold-stunned sea turtles along Cape Cod Bay!
Each fall, Cape Cod Bay beaches become the setting for one of New England's most remarkable conservation efforts, as cold water temperatures cause hundreds of juvenile sea turtles to become stranded along miles of shoreline.
During this guided beach walk, participants will join a Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay educator and a Brewster Recreation staff member to search for cold-stunned sea turtles while learning about their biology, life cycles, and the unique conditions that lead to cold-stunning.
The program will also highlight the species most commonly found along Cape Cod's shores, including the Kemp's ridley, the world's most endangered sea turtle species, and the important rescue and conservation efforts led by Mass Audubon.
What to Bring: Dress warmly and wear comfortable footwear appropriate for walking on the beach in potentially wet or muddy conditions.
