Program Description: This strength training program, taught by Nauset Middle School physical education teacher Brian Lavery, is designed for middle school students to teach the safety and proper techniques associated with strength training along with speed and agility training. This program will emphasize proper technique and body mechanics over building muscle mass and encourage life long exercise. Participants will gain the knowledge and techniques to help them be successful as a high school athlete and beyond. Topics covered will include an overview on equipment, exercises and stretches, mobility work, agility and coordination work, speed and cardio work, and basic movements for each large muscle group. The majority of the class will be held in the weight room with sections held in the back gym.
What to Bring: Closed-toe sneakers/shoes (no sandals or crocs), athletic clothing, and water.
