BREWSTER — Here comes Santa Claus!
Friday, Dec. 2 is the start of this season’s Brewster for the Holidays celebration. Events kick off with the Drummer Boy Park Christmas Tree Lighting, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sing carols with the Brewster Eddy School Choir under the direction of Stacey Ferris. Watch Santa arrive by fire truck, and enjoy some hot cocoa provided by Leighton Realty. The event is sponsored by Leighton Team Keller Williams Realty, Brewster Historical Society, WeNeedaVacation.com, and 101.5 FM Koffee Radio. Bring an unwrapped toy to benefit local families in need.
At 7 p.m. Friday, take in a free performance by the Brewster Band at Brewster Baptist Church. The program will include Amy Grant and Chris Eaton’s “Breath of Heaven,” James Swearingen’s “And the Herald Angels Sang,” “March of the Toys” by Victor Herbert, Chris Sharp’s “Hymn to the Heartland,” and “Christmas Lights” by Joe Derhake, among other traditional favorites. Topping it off: the ever-popular “Christmas “Pop” Sing Along.”
On Saturday, Dec. 3, Brewster Rec presents breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.BrewsterRecreation.com for two seatings (100 maximum at each) at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. No tickets will be sold at the door. Then, Pet Photos with Santa will be taken onsite at the Brewster Dog Park ($10 each) between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the Brewster Historical Society will host a Cobb House Museum Open House from 1 to 4 p.m.
On Sunday, Dec. 4, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History hosts a Brewster for the Holidays Visit With Santa 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Photographer Bill Pomeroy will be on hand, but don’t forget your own camera to capture the event. Enjoy holiday music by guitarist Jim Nosler and make a holiday craft or card. In the spirit of the season, please donate non-perishable food items for the local food pantry. Museum admission is free all day.
Then, between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Art In The Afternoon, a DIY Holiday Workshop, gets underway at the former Sea Camps art studio. A Brewster Cultural Council event sponsored by Brewster Recreation, Art In The Afternoon features holiday wreaths and swag for sale by the Brewster Garden Club ($15); upcycled ornaments with Green Road Refill ($3); and bracelets by Katey ($5).
