This is a general overview of the recreational programs, sports, and activities that Brewster Recreation offers over a calendar year. The below programs are listed from when they start and might last multiple weeks or months. Current offerings and information can be found on the home page. All activities may not be offered every year.

Program Name: Youth Strength Training
Type: Seasonal Programs
Length: Saturdays for 5 Weeks (January- February)
Ages: Boys & Girls in Grades 6-8
Description: This strength training program, is designed for middle school students to teach the safety and proper techniques associated with strength training along with speed and agility training. This program will emphasize proper technique and body mechanics over building muscle mass, and hopefully encourage life long exercise. Participants will gain the knowledge and techniques to help them be successful as a high school athlete and beyond. Topics covered will include an overview on equipment, exercises and stretches, mobility work, agility and coordination work, speed and cardio work, and basic movements for each large muscle group.
Program Name: Floor Hockey

Description: Kids will learn the basic techniques of hockey and also play organized games in the gym. This supervised activity will be fun for all children! All equipment is provided. No experience necessary.
Program Name: Futsal with Challenger Sports

Description: This futsal program will be coached by licensed Challenger coaches who create a positive learning environment that focuses on skill development that kids can use to prepare for game situations. Work on your tricks, turns, and various moves! No experience necessary.
Program Name: Tiny Tots Basketball

Program Name: Snow Show Rentals

Description: If you are interested in renting snow shoes for the day, or for the weekend, we have you covered! Our rental shoes are standard adult snow shoes and will facilitate anyone from 100lbs to 250lbs. Please contact the Brewster Recreation staff for rental information or questions.

Program Name: Indoor Pickleball

Description: Held in the Eddy School Gym, three indoor courts are available and open to all skill levels ages 18 and older. The rec department will supply portable nets, balls, and a few extra paddles as well as a whiteboard for court rotations. Registration and payment is required for Saturdays. The weeks of school vacations are FREE and do not require registration, just drop in!

Description: Held in the Eddy School Gym, Brewster Recreation is now offering adult table tennis for those looking to play in a fun and safe environment. The rec department will supply tables, balls, and a few extra paddles. Registration and payment is required for Saturdays. Program Name: Wheel Good Time

Description: Bring your wheels to the bay for a "Wheel Good Time." Whether you prefer to ride a bike, scooter, skateboard, roller blades, or any other non-motorized or non-battery operated form of active transportation, this program is for you! Children in grades K-5 will be able ride their "wheels" around the Brewster Bay Property in a fun, safe, and supervised environment. Registered participants will be able to store their wheels at the Brewster Bay Property during the duration of the program.
Program Name: Yoga

Description: Join instructor Erin Li for kids yoga! Erin has experience as a school teacher and has recently focused her energy primarily on being a yoga instructor. She has worked with kids as young as 3 years old to teenagers. This class is designed for kids ranging from 3rd to 5th grade. In this weekly 60-minute class kids will participate in yoga poses, meditation, breathing exercises and yoga games. These activities will help increase their body awareness as well as strength and flexibility while improving their focus and concentration. This supervised activity will be fun for all children! All equipment is provided. No experience necessary.

Program Name: Brewster Pickleball Group

Ages: Anyone 18+
Description: Brewster Pickleball Group consists of roughly 140 players ranging in age from 30-80+ that will have reserved times at the Brewster Community Youth Tennis Courts from 7:00AM-10:00AM each day. Pickleball is played on the 4 youth tennis courts, as well as 2 additional courts on court 4 of the tennis courts. Join the group and enjoy time outside with other players at your skill level.
Program Name: Mass Audubon Camp

Description: If your child is looking for an activity during April vacation, look no further. Mass Audubon’s drop-off school vacation week program immerses children in nature through stories, games, crafts, and hikes led by our experienced team of environmental educators.

Description: There is a four hole disc golf course set up on the outskirts of the soccer/lacrosse field at Freeman's Way. It is preferred that participants use their your own discs, but if needed, please contact the recreation department. Cages will be taken in from Jan - March.

Description: Sprint into the spring months with the after school track & field program. Throughout this five week program participants will focus on the four major track & field events (sprints, jumps, distance & throws). Each day, students will be led in a warm up, dynamic exercises, and then one of the four track and field events. All equipment is provided. No experience necessary.
Program Name: Youth Tennis in the Parks w/USTA

Description: The tennis program where kids play while they learn! Led by an approved USTA Net Generation tennis coach, the program will focus on developing the skills to serve, rally and play - so it’s perfect for beginners and first-time players. Once the skills are developed, participants will play fun matches with other players in the program. This program uses modified tennis balls, age-appropriate rackets, court sizes, and the latest fun and engaging activities that help players successfully learn and play the game quicker! All players in their first session receive and keep a new age-appropriate racket.
Program Name: Adult Tennis in the Parks with USTA

Description: Learn and play tennis! Led by a USTA approved coach, participants will have fun and get great exercise while developing the skills to serve, rally, and play tennis. The program is perfect for first-time and beginner players, as well as returning novice players. All players in their first session receive and keep a new tennis racket!
Program Name: Soccer Academy with Challenger Sports

Ages: Age 3- Grade 6
Description: Spring soccer with Challenger Sports is not a traditional soccer "league". This is a clinic/practice style program with scrimmages each week made of different teams each week. Come and get your kicks with Challenger coaches! Challenger's many programs now boast an incredible team of coaches from all over the world. This diversity of experiences and cultures reflect the truly global nature of sport and this international team of coaches all have one thing in common — a genuine interest in helping with each player’s development and providing memorable and positive experiences through sport. All kids in this program will be evenly divided by age and emphasis will be placed on learning the basics, developing skills and having fun!
Program Name: Youth Pickleball

Description: New for 2024, Brewster Recreation has partnered with BOOST Pickleball to offer an exciting five class after school program. Through the use of fun games and challenges, kids will be introduced to basic rules, scoring, stroke/play and fundamentals and safety of the sport. Each class will focus on a different element of the game (serving, returning, non-volley zone, transition area) and at the series completion students will have a good understanding of how to have fun and be safe when playing. Classes will be taught by a Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) Certified Teaching Pro. Equipment is provided. No experience necessary.

Description: A popular activity, these basic archery classes are designed for beginners. Classes will focus on basic techniques and safety, as well as skills and drills. Program Name: Brewster In Bloom 5K Run

Description: Race Day Registration Begins at 8:30am at the Brewster Inn & Chowder House (parking lot). Prizes awarded to the male and female 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place finishers of each age division. Race tees may be available for purchase at the recreation office and on the day of the event. Race starts on Route 6A at the Brewster Inn & Chowder House and ends at the Trinity Lutheran Church parking lot. Proceeds benefit the Brewster Recreation Department's Bob Redd Memorial Youth of the Year Scholarship.
Program Name: Saturday Kite Fever
Type: Seasonal Program
Length: 5 weeks
Ages: Boys & Girls in Grades 5-8
Description: This exciting program of sport kite flying is held at the Brewster Bay Property. Lessons will be held outside and rotate between the bay flats and the properties front fields depending on wind conditions and tide. During the initial session students will be "hands on" and learn how to successfully launch a kite into the air while also learning the basics of how to fly. Students who want to continue to develop flying skills further may register for multiple sessions. During additional sessions instructors will teach tricks, such as spins and other fun stuff! No experience is necessary. Instructors will provide everything participants need to get up in the air and to begin to learn how to have fun flying.
Program Name: Senior Striders at First Light Beach

Length: 5 weeks (Saturdays)
Ages: 55 & Older
Description: For those looking to get some exercise, socialize with friends, and enjoy one of the best views on the Cape, come join us for our Spring Senior Striders walking program at First Light Beach. Starting at 9:00 am and ending at 11:00 am participants will have the opportunity to walk around the newly acquired bay property and take in all the sites and sounds. This is a FREE program, and no registration is required, just arrive and have a good time.
Program Name: Softball (Travel)
Type: Youth Sport
Length: 7 weeks
Ages: Grades 2-6
Description: The Lower Cape Rec Softball Leagues are organized travel leagues for children in grades 2-6 and consist of teams from Barnstable to Provincetown. Depending on the turnout from other towns, teams will play a weekly schedule with one or two weekday games and a weekly practice day scheduled by the coach. If there are not enough teams to make a league, the program will run internally.

We promise to provide great supervision within a fun and safe environment. Children must bring a nut free snack and water each day. This is a half day program that ends at noon each day.
Program Name: Youth Leader Program

Ages: Students who are entering grades 8 & 9
Program Description: Brewster Recreation's Youth Leader (YL) Program is designed for students who are entering grades 8 & 9 who are interested in becoming better leaders. This program immerses teens in a work environment and covers a curriculum that includes topics such as leadership, conflict resolution, child development, and group dynamics that leads to the making of a better community leader. Participation in the program does not guarantee future employment with the Town of Brewster.
*There is a one time $20.00 cost to participate.

Neal Nichols, Jr. has hosted the Geography Gameshow in schools and communities throughout the world. Participants in the gameshow will have a chance to win a prize.
Program Name: Art Smart: Drawing

Description: This five day, drawing basics program for children offers students an introduction to the principles of drawing. Program Name: Challenger International Soccer

Description: Brewster Recreation will be partnering with Challenger International again this summer! Coached by our British, Irish & US based professional coaches, this program will be fun for all ages. This week-long program is for athletes aged 3-12. Rooted in British training methodology, these camps introduce international training tactics to campers across the U.S.

Description: This travel soccer league is made up of teams from Harwich, Chatham, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown. Teams play a 6-8 game schedule. Typically, teams will practice one night a week and have one game a week.

Description: The Brewster Recreation open adult basketball program is designed to create a positive opportunity for men and women to participate in pick-up basketball games, socialize, and be active in the fall, winter and spring months. To participate, simply arrive at Eddy Elementary School (park in back parking lot) enter though back gym doors, pay recreation staff member $5 cash, sign-in and agree to the program waiver, and have fun! All ability levels are welcome to join. No experience necessary. Equipment is provided.

Description: This program takes place at the Sea Camps Bay Property. All running levels welcome! Students will participate in 4 weeks of running training. During the first few weeks participants will be doing sprints and eventually build up to intermediate and long distances.

Description: Come celebrate and support Brewster families! This cocktail party and silent auction fundraiser helps support two amazing organizations that have been a resource for Brewster families for many years; Nauset Youth Alliance and the Brewster Recreation Department. This adult only fundraiser and friendraiser is held at the Pelham House Resort in Dennis Port.

Program Name: Assorted Sports

Length: 5 weeks (Mid November-Mid December)
Ages: Boys & Girls in Grades 1-2
Description: This program is outdoors. Students will learn the basic techniques of various sports each week. Sports offered include basketball, flag football, soccer, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, softball, kickball, and disk golf. Children will also play organized games. Sports offerings are not assigned to specific weeks and are contingent on weather and the interest of the students. These supervised sports will be fun for all children! All equipment is provided. No experience necessary.
Program Name: Outdoor Club

Length: 4 Consecutive Days
Ages: Boys & Girls in Grades 3-5
Description: A program that encourages kids to get outside. Each day of the week is a new activity. Activities include beach clean up, biking, birding, hiking, and a scavenger hunt. This program takes place at the Sea Camps Bay Property.

Program Name: Breakfast with Santa
Type: Event
Length: 1 Day
Ages: Open to everyone 2 & up
Description: Tickets to Breakfast with Santa include a full buffet breakfast for all attending and children will receive a voucher for arts and crafts (additional craft vouchers for sale). Santa recommends that you bring your camera for pictures with him (for a donation, please!). All proceeds will benefit local children and families as part of our Brewster Holiday Hope fundraiser. Due to the popularity of this event there are usually two sessions to choose from, one starting at 8:30am and the other starting at 10:30am.

Description: These basketball leagues are great introductions to the skills of basketball. Boys and girls learn the basics while also having a great time! Kids in both leagues will be divided into teams.
Program Name: Youth Basketball (Travel)
Type: Youth Sports
Length: 6 weeks
Ages: Grades 3-6
Description: The Lower Cape Recreational Basketball League is an organized travel basketball league for boys and girls in grades 3-6. The league is made up of teams from Harwich, Chatham, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown. Fundamentals, skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship are emphasized.
Program Name: Lego Lab
Type: After School Program
Length: 5 weeks
Ages: Grades K-2
Description: Building with legos is a great way to stimulate the brain while having fun! Imagination, creativity, and engineering skills will flourish during all Lego Lab sessions. During Lego Lab a theme will be given that each participant can create, or they can have the freedom to build what they want. Free build mixed with guided builds will always be the priority along with having fun. Brewster rec will provide all legos.

Description:Learn from the BEST! This fun program supports kids who want to learn or continue their jump rope knowledge and skills. The National Champion Skipper team is led by Coach Sara Trauterman. No experience necessary.
